In the week leading up to the election, I decided to occupy my mind with a self imposed "challenge" - making a collage a day for 7 days in a row.  Challenges are a great way to focus on taking risks, and working more intuitively.  This piece is unlike most of my other collages, with tons of negative space, visual tension and a tall, skinny format. 

This piece was created with a "peanuthead" lanterfly.  The white powder you see on the insect is a defensive mechanism that they release when feeling threatened- it took a bit of cleaning before I was able to get a good image of the wings!
